A baby room monitor is an important item for any expectant parents to possess. For most people the basic audio monitor is sufficient. But others need the extra security of having a video monitor. Video monitors let you actually see your baby on a TV screen built into the receiver. If you decide to get a video monitor, choose one with night vision capability, or it will not be of much use in the dark!
For extra security and assurance of your baby’s safety, you can also get a breathing and movement monitor. These use pressure pads which are placed under the mattress to sense if your infant has stopped breathing or displays other signs of anguish. If there is a problem you are alerted immediately.
The final point to consider when choosing a baby room monitor system is cost. They can range from only a few dollars up to a few hundred. Times are tough and things are tight all around, however this is an essential piece of equipment and you should get the best model you can afford. The fact is, if the system does not perform well and cannot be relied on, then it is effectively a waste of time and money.
